can you put an option for a document tab bar on top?

can you put an option for a document tab bar on top? When I have lots of tabs open some of them don't show up unless I maximize the window. A top document tab bar would make it easier to find documents. I'm also used to top tabs because most software the tabs are on top with sometimes an option to put them on the bottom.
