Why should I continue using Corel products

Help service

Reason to stay away from Corel products.

I have a problem with Word Perfect 2021 home and student edition. Your web page says that it supports editing of pdf files but when I try to open a pdf file I get an error message of "Unknown file format".

On December 27, 2021 I tried to "chat" with you tech support which was unable to provide any help but was given a ticket number 3204956 and told that someone who could help me would contact me shortyly. Not hearing anything from anyone, on January 1st 2022 I had four chats (## 3211673, 3211676, 3211698 and 3211699) with the same result- somebody will contact me directly. Now, on January 6, 2022 I am still waiting for someone to contact me. My workaround was to open and edit the pdf with Microsoft Word which is installed on my friend's computer.

So, why should I continue to use Word Perfect which cannot do what the Corel says it can do and then not contact me even after almost two weeks.

Correct, opening PDF is not part of HSE.

There seemed to be a glitch a few months ago with the Tech Support reporting system platform but this was rectified.

They normally have to answer in between 24 to 48 hours during business hours. Which means that if you report an issue on a Friday evening, you may not get an answer by the following Tuesday or Wednesday. Please report a ticket here: https://www.wordperfect.com/en/support/

Ensure to provide your Serial number

While it may be true that Home and Student version cannot open pdf files, the question still remains: "Why should I continue using Corel products" if the tech support does not follow through with their promises to contact the individual who requested support. While I have personally owned 9 versions of WordPerfect from ver 3.5 to WP 2021 pro, (purchased today), this kind of unimpressive response certainly sours me toward the company.

Per information from Corel, the Home and Student version cannot open pdf files. It can publish to a pdf but not open one. You need the Standard or Professionasl version to open a pdf.

Product Family See under "PDF Import just over half way down.

It's disheartening that Corel Chat personnel are not versed in their own products.
