That topic [Unicode and the future of WordPerfect](https://www.wpuniverse.com/vb/showthread.php?31119-Unicode-and-the-future-of-WordPerfect&highlight=limitations), started on 12 May 2010 on the WordPerfect Universe forum, has 16,642 views as of 13 July 2020, shows how much interest there is for Unicode support. Despite the radical advance that the WordPerfect Character Set represented when it was introduced in version 5.0 for DOS, if I remember correctly, it is now in need of replacement with full access to all Unicode characters. This would eliminate the problems of WordPerfect having to print selected characters in an alternate font.
After being a longtime WP users (I migrated from Wordstar 2000), I am being forced to abandon my favorite wordprocessor for its lack of Unicode support. Is there anything anyone still programming for this application anyone going to do about this? Seems such a shame to abandon such an otherwise useful product to support further monopolization of the market by Microsoft.
